About
Annual Report
Please review our Annual Report which details our purpose, operations, financials,
and successes for the last fiscal year (our first year of operations).
How We Operate
TeKonnect operates on a donation/grant basis. The monies received by the organization
are distributed toward the needs of students as they become available. If no donations/grants have been
given/approved, there will be no resources available.
Eligibility
College students who:
- Are U.S. citizens or on a documented path toward that achievement.
- Reside in Miami, Darke, or Shelby counties of Ohio.
- Are enrolled in an accredited college within the State of Ohio.
- Have maintained a minimum of 3.0 GPA in college studies. If new to college, a minimum of 3.0 GPA through High School.
- Are in good standing with the college they are attending.
How Applications are Evaluated
Applications will be evaluated by the Board of Directors as they are received and as resources are available.
Evaluation of applications will be based upon:
- Eligibility (above)
- Severity of the financial need.
- Extenuating circumstances (Hardships)
- Academic plan for the coming terms. What courses is the applicant planning?
Applications submitted to the Board are valid for one (1) academic year, running from late August through May. If you have submitted an application for the previous academic year, and have not been contacted, you will need to submit a new application.
Our goals regarding applicantsIf you are selected to receive technology resources from TeKonnect, and if there are resources available, our goal would be to provide the selected applicant with a Windows based computer system that is built to perform basic business and educational tasks. Examples of these tasks include the creation of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents based on research and analysis. Please keep in mind that our systems are not built for gaming, architectural design, or other resource demanding tasks. Instead, our systems are built using sometimes donated, othertimes with new / refurbished parts to target the general needs of a student in the college environment. Because our resources are sometimes donated, please understand that we do not accept individual requests for specific computer hardware or computer configurations.
Mission StatementOur aim is to reduce the burden on students in the college environment, who are struggling to make ends meet, and lacking the computer hardware resources to complete their assigned work. Our mission is to identify those students in need, build the necessary computer equipment to meet their needs, and provide these computer resources to students, as a donation and completely free of charge.
In short, our mission is to do our part toward bridging the digital divide.
Administrative CostsOur primary financial goal from the outset is to keep administrative costs to a bare minimum, ensuring that student recipients are the primary benefactors of contributions. To illustrate this, founding principles of the company will not be reimbursed for their efforts into the foreseeable future.
